We ended the 2008 season as we always have, with class. Our boys came together and executed our game plan both on offense and defense. For anyone who loves offensive games this was the one to watch from our side! Whenever there are in excess of 70 points scored in a contest you have an intense offensive shoot out. We were able to keep the Bronco defense off guard with a nicely balanced running and passing attack. Our linemen opened holes and gave us 6 seconds of pass protection that enabled us to score in several ways.
Our defensive players were well prepared, mentally and physically, to counter Boyd’s offensive schemes. They countered their trap blocking well and put on a hard pass rush that made their quarterback rush his plays. Our linebackers read the Broncos expertly.
To say that our 2008 season was a challenging one is an understatement. We scheduled games against very strong teams in our preseason and our division is one of the best in the state. Many times fate could have handed us better results but didn’t. Still, to the last game, our players remained focused and gave us 110 percent effort 100 percent of the time. Although the record may not reflect it they are, in every sense, champions.
I'd like to extend my sincerest thanks to Plano East Senior High school principal Karen McDonald, my assistant coaches and staff, our parent volunteers and supporters and the members of our community for your unending support and encouragement, without which we could never have achieved so much. It's you that make the sweat, toil and time worthwhile. Thanks for everything you gave us in 2008
Finally, to my senior players, I thank you for your dedication, your courage and perseverance in what may surely be one on the most challenging times in your young lives. Through adversity and hard times you held your heads high and lead your team with class to the end. You inspire me each and every day. You will be welcome on our sidelines always. I wish you success in the future, long, happy and prosperous lives.
